ABOUT ME

Kathryn Schauer is a Ph.D. candidiate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Colorado, Boulder. My first field is Comparative Politics and my second field is Quantitative Methodology.

My dissertation focuses on perceptions economic inequality and individuals' class-based identities. My dissertation seeks to develop an understanding and conceptualization of Americans' perceptions of economic inequality through the lens of group consciousness, the role of 'right-to-work' laws and unions in shaping economic outcomes, and how these dynamics shape class consciousness and political behaviors.

In addition to my dissertation research, I am interested in comparative welfare state politics, citizens' democratic values, support for the far-right, as well as survey measurement. I also take interest in quantitative methods, particularly multilevel modeling and time series analysis.
